We Now Have CoolSculpting® Elite (and April Specials) for Improved Body Contouring!

CoolSculpting® Elite at the Dallas area’s Dermatology Office is the newest way to get your skinny on! If you have been one of the many people who gained weight over the last year during the Covid craziness, there is some help for you along with a healthy diet and exercise. CoolSculpting® utilizes the concept that fat freezes at a higher body temperature than the surrounding tissue, and so we are able to target that pesky unwanted fat without affecting other more vital items, such as nerves and vasculature. Relatively painless, easy, and fast, CoolSculpting® allows treatment of body fat in areas such as the abdomen, inner and outer thighs, knees, arms, flanks, and even the area under the chin. It can treat softer fat or firmer fat, depending on the individual. In the past, when practices wanted to “CoolSculpt” two areas at one time, they were relegated to purchasing two large, unwieldy machines and hooking the patient up, hoping that each attachment would stay in place with pillows and other unique methods of scaffolding. The Dermatology Office and Dr. Ellen Turner are pleased to be one of the first in the Dallas market to offer the newest in CoolSculpting®, which […]

Celebrate with Us at our Annual Spring Event!

Each year, I look forward with great anticipation to the Spring Event. Most years, we have our event in person with some type of theme—such as “Jump into Spring”—and the décor is festive and fun. Patients are eager to come into our Dallas-based dermatology office and learn what new procedures, products, and services we are offering, complete with discounts and promotions. This past year has taught us a lot about social distancing and telemedicine and virtual consultations. Thus, we had a type of virtual event in the fall with measured success, and now we will be offering a similar event this spring, the week of April 12 to 16, 2021. We hope that our approach will give something to everyone. For patients and their friends who feel comfortable reaching out virtually from their home or office space, the Spring Event launches with a day that is packed with virtual learning and education about so many different procedures and services that we offer—some that are tried and true, but others that are completely novel and new. Our office is proud to be one of the few in the Dallas market to launch Qwo®, the first and only FDA-approved injectable for moderate […]

Get a Lift from PDO Novathreads

The newest advancements in threadlifts can now be found at the office of Dr. Ellen Turner and the Dermatology Office. A Center of Excellence and trainer of Silhouette InstaLift in Texas, Dr. Ellen Turner is now using the PDO Novathreads for brow lift and butt lift. She is also using these threads for elimination of fine and course lines in the face, neck, chest, arms, and legs. Novathreads have many different types and sizes depending on what you are trying to achieve. There are three main types of Novathreads: 1) barbed, 2) twist, and 3) smooth. If you are trying to achieve a lift, you are going to use the barbed suture. There are several different lengths and thickness of the barbed sutures. Dr. Turner much prefers the PDO Novathread for its ability to lift the brow and the butt, but always reaches for the Silhouette InstaLift for the lower face and neck. Dr. Turner has been using Sculptra® for butt augmentation for three years now, and more recently has seen a huge uptick in Radiesse® injections due to the immediacy of its results. Both are biostimulants of collagen and give somewhat of a lift as well to the buttocks, […]

Face Contouring: How to Combat Mid-Facial Volume Loss

November 20, 2020- Since 2007, I began to understand the importance of the mid-facial volume loss and how that dramatically impacts the periorbital region (around the eyes), the temples, and especially the lower face around the mouth area. Most patients come to me with complaints such as “I am seeing the shadows under my eyes” or “I see these deepening folds around my mouth” or “I have the puppet lines or frown lines but I am not angry, Doctor.” What is so important to explain to the patient, is that these aging complaints are the results of mid-facial volume loss and that must be addressed first as the foundation of our treatment. The mid face area is our lateral and mid-cheek areas, and there are nine fat pads located here. As the face begins to age in the early thirties, we begin to lose fat within these fat pads and thus these fat pads flatten and even separate. Sometimes, there is a notable line in the mid-cheek of very thin people where there is separation of two of the larger fat pads. As the fat pads in the cheek flatten and shrink, the three fat pads in the lower eyelid […]

Radiesse for Buttock Augmentation

October 26th 2020 – Hyper-diluted Radiesse is now being used for buttock augmentation at the Dermatology Office! Different from Sculptra, Radiesse (calcium hydroxyapatite) is an instant result which is appealing to many patients. Some patients prefer to get their buttock augmentation foundation with Sculptra, and then tweak their results with hyper-diluted Radiesse. Just as with Sculptra butt augmentation, hyper-diluted Radiesse is injected with a cannula for minimal discomfort and safety. Results are seen right away, and typically last for approximately 18 months.  Ideal candidates include anyone who has received Sculptra for butt augmentation, but who wishes to have even more , and faster results. Additional candidates for Radiesse butt augmentation include anyone who wishes to have a more shapely, rounded backside or anyone who wants  more lifting of their buttocks, as often times there can be downward drift with the aging process. Very thin athletic people can have “hip dip” which is an inward curve on the lateral hips, and Radiesse can be placed in these areas as well to create that more rounded out-warded curved shape. In addition to the augmentation of the buttocks, hyper-diluted Radiesse is also being used for areas such as the neck, chest, arms, abdomen […]
