Restylane® Refyne in Dallas & Irving

Introduction to Restylane® Refyne

What Is Restylane® Refyne?

Restylane® Refyne is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler from Galderma, offered at the Dermatology Office of Dr. Ellen Turner in Dallas and Irving. It is made with XpresHAn Technology™, designed to soften moderate laugh lines and folds while keeping your natural expressions. Hyaluronic acid is a substance your skin makes naturally to stay hydrated and full, and as those levels decline with age the folds that run from the nose to the mouth and around the lower face become more noticeable.

Restylane® Refyne smooths these folds and lines without surgery. What sets it apart is XpresHAn Technology™, a flexible gel that integrates into the tissue and moves with your expressions, so your face still looks and feels like you when you smile, laugh, and talk. It also contains lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment.

Because Refyne is one of the softer, more flexible fillers in the Restylane family, our providers use it where gentle smoothing and natural movement matter most, especially moderate smile lines and marionette lines.

Restylane® Refyne is FDA-approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. It is indicated for patients over the age of 21. In clinical studies, 97 percent of patients achieved natural-looking correction one month after treatment, with results lasting up to 12 months.

Step 1: Consultation at Our Dallas or Irving Office

We review your aesthetic goals and full medical history

A detailed facial assessment confirms whether Restylane® Refyne is right for your concern and maps a customized approach

Treatment expectations, risks, and aftercare are fully discussed

Photographs of the treatment area are taken for your records

Step 2: Preparation

The treatment area is thoroughly cleansed

A topical numbing cream may be applied for your comfort, and Restylane® Refyne also contains lidocaine

Injection points are mapped precisely based on your facial anatomy and goals

Step 3: Injection

The filler is carefully placed into the folds using a fine needle or a blunt-tip cannula

The full appointment is typically completed in under one hour

Results are visible almost immediately as the added volume softens the lines and folds

Step 4: Aftercare

Use cold compresses to reduce any temporary swelling

Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen (NSAIDs), St. John’s Wort, blood thinners, and high-dose Vitamin E for one week, as these can increase bruising

Minimize strenuous exercise and avoid excessive heat, sun, or UV lamps for the first 24 hours

Do not press or massage the treated area unless instructed by your provider

Follow all aftercare instructions and schedule any recommended follow-up

The most common side effects are temporary reactions at the injection site, such as swelling, redness, bruising, pain, headache, tenderness, itching, and lump formation. These are usually mild and resolve on their own. Our team will review all risks with you before any treatment begins.

Patient Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Restylane® Refyne cost?

Cost depends on how many syringes are needed to reach your goals, which varies from person to person. Because Restylane® Refyne is a cosmetic treatment, it is not covered by insurance. Our team will review pricing with you during your consultation, along with any current offers.

How long does Restylane® Refyne last?

Restylane® Refyne has been shown to last up to 12 months. Duration varies from person to person based on metabolism, age, and lifestyle.

What is the difference between Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne?

Both are made with XpresHAn Technology™ and treat laugh lines, but they differ in firmness. Refyne is softer and more flexible, making it well suited to moderate lines and gentle smoothing while keeping natural movement. Defyne is firmer and built for deeper folds and areas that need more structural support, including the chin. Our providers choose between them based on your anatomy and goals.

Does the treatment hurt?

Most people feel only minor discomfort. Restylane® Refyne contains lidocaine to numb the area as it is injected, and a topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand for added comfort.

Will my results look natural?

Yes. Restylane® Refyne is made with XpresHAn Technology™, a flexible gel designed to move with your expressions. In clinical studies, 97 percent of patients achieved a natural-looking correction one month after treatment.

Is there any downtime?

Very little. You may have mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site for a few days, but most patients return to their normal activities right away.

Can Restylane® Refyne be reversed?

Yes. Because it is hyaluronic acid-based, it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed. This reversibility is one of the key advantages of HA fillers.

What areas does Restylane® Refyne treat?

Restylane® Refyne is most often used for the smile lines (nasolabial folds) and marionette lines, the moderate folds and lines of the lower face.

Is Restylane® Refyne safe?

Restylane® Refyne is FDA-approved and made with XpresHAn Technology™, with a well-established clinical record. Your provider will review your health history and all risks with you before treatment.

Who is a good candidate?

Most healthy adults over 21 who want to soften moderate smile lines or marionette lines while keeping natural movement are good candidates. It is not recommended for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have bleeding disorders, have an active infection at the treatment site, or have a history of severe allergies. Our team will confirm suitability during your consultation.
